The Big Bow Ban at Schools

The Big Bow Ban at Schools

Schools across the country Schools are banning big hair bows, these bows use 3inch wide ribbon and sit across the entire child’s head. They have started to appear in the playground in various colours, mostly being bright and very non-discrete. The reasons for the ban vary, from not following uniform colours, causing distractions or simply preventing children seeing the whiteboard because the child in front of them has an oversized hair bow! There is a School uniform guidance which is issued by the UK government, this can be found here:

Hair bows can actually help learning by keep hair out of the child’s eye’s, Alice Bands and smaller bows are important and can ensure hair is tidy. Tidy hair can also help reduce the dreaded head lice too, by keeping long hair in check. If bows can be produced in school colours then they can actually compliment the uniform, a company called Bowunique ( http://www.bowunique.co.uk ) make bows to your specification and colours, ensuring  that the bow will match your school uniform. Bows start at 6cm wide through to larger widths more appropriate for special occasions. Many gymnastics clubs use Bowunique to create bows that match their club colours which makes a big difference at competitions in terms of visual appearance. The message is simple, keep hair bows to a sensible style, size, and where possible match them to the school uniform colours, and if in doubt ask the school!
